Goals for 2011

1. Test the waters in the job market. Possibly find a new one...

2. Work out 4-5 days a week.

3. See my family more.

4. Get my cars fixed and maybe get a new one. Evidently no one got the memo that I was supposed to get a new car for Christmas.

5. Be more creative. Set up my artist studio and create...

6. Get my taxes done early.

7. Cut down on stress. I need to realize that there are things in life that I cannot change. I need to affect change where I can, and the rest will handle itself. It shouldn't rest all on my shoulders either.

missing

I just got back from my trip home for the holidays, and I am reminded of why I left in the first place. I truly missed my family, but seeing other people from my past brought back a flood of memories and emotions.

This mainly revolves around one guy, my first love. Everything I thought I was over and done with all but hit me in the face as soon as I saw him. All of those old emotions, and might I add awkwardness, came right back to me. In trying to figure out why I couldn't seem to get past this, I realized that there was a lot of unfinished business there.

When we first got together, we both were way too young and not ready for a relationship. We broke up, got together, broke up...blah, blah, blah. We always seemed to be missing each other. And when one of us was available, the other was in another commitment. So, it was never going to work out, no matter how hard we tried. And as much as it pains me, I am coming to grips with this reality. I have moved on, and what happened back then has made me into who I am today. Everything happens for a reason. It may hurt again now, but I will soon have this door shut again...hopefully for good.

On a side note, I also went to the local bar in town. I saw many people I went to high school with...and many of whom thought they were really something back then. Did they really never leave that shit hole? I've gone and made something of myself, but what have they done? I can't imagine the despair I'd be feeling if I were in their shoes. Get off your asses and make something of yourselves. Life is way too short to be stuck in the past.

Merry Christmas

So, I haven't posted in a while because, quite honestly, the holidays have been kicking my ass. The amount of work I had to do seemed so daunting that I really didn't feel like this day would ever get here. Alas, the day is finally here that I get to go home! I haven't seen my family in a year and, in my opinion, that's way too long. I'm so ready...

I will also get to fight my way through the airport. I'm anxious to see how smoothly this process goes. And might I add that I'm actually pretty curious about these full body screeners and front-of-hand frisks. I'd be lying if I said I didn't secretly hope I get picked out of the crowd. I want to know what the big deal is. Bring it on bitches!

I'll also probably have plenty of time to blog while I'm home, so we'll just see what pops into my head. Merry Christmas everyone!

Peace and Love,

Madison Marie

Holiday Party

Ah, the work holiday party. This is probably THE event that I feel most awkward. I'm not really into all of the high-end designer clothing and such, so that immediately makes me a bit of an outsider. I'm owning it though. I have my own brand of cool and am pretty secure in that. Besides, what would the world be without diversity?

So, I'll sit at the W Hotel bar and act like I'm not feeling a bit out of place. Bring it!

illegal

I just found out today that Salma Hayek was an illegal immigrant when she first came to the states. Does that taint my view of her? Nope! I could stare at that woman all day long. Gorgeous!

Things I never wanted for Christmas

*the debt that comes with having to buy everyone gifts

*everyone trying to shove cakes, cookies and candy in my face

*stress

*that little virus that is fucking my world up

(here’s to hoping that 2011 is better than 2010)

Witty or Just Plain Nuts?

I’m not going to lie; the last few weeks have been pretty rough. Without going into exact detail on the nature of my troubles, suffice to say that I’ve had to really break from everything I’ve known for years and years. Namely…sex.

Lack of sex has, for sure, caused some definite frustration, but it’s also had some other strange effects. Maybe it’s my imagination, but I’ve been told I’m wittier than usual as of late. Seinfeld immediately came to mind. In one of my favorite episodes, George goes without sex for a period of time and, in turn, becomes a brainiac because he’s not distracted by always trying to get it. Could this be happening to me? I’d like to think I’m pretty witty normally, but who knows.

And with that said, I’d rather have sex.

Welcome

Here it is, my very first post. If you're reading this, it's because I must value your friendship. It also occurs to me that I'm amazed that someone would be interested in what I have to say, but nevertheless, I will be as candid and honest as I can be.

Welcome to my blog, friends!
